3. Trainingslager noch nicht gebucht? Komm mit ins Willpower.Races.Camp auf Mallorca!

3. Trainingslager noch nicht gebucht? Komm mit ins Willpower.Races.

Juni in Kölns neues architektonisches Aushängeschild.

Races.-Team

Train smart till its time to start!

1. Getting start in triathlon is easier than ever! Become a Cologne Triathlon Rookie 2014!

„Ohh triathlon, you have to train so much and be super fit and have lots of equipment and actually you can't do anything else at all....” – that's what some say. But only those who haven't yet been exposed to the triathlon virus  ;-)

You want to give triathlon a try but need a little help from an experienced trainer team, a training plan, three guided training sessions each week, plus a group of others who are willing to put up with the same torture?

Search no further! You can have all of that and more in our Cologne Triathlon Rookie Project 2014 under the professional leadership of Johann Ackermann and Henning Richter.

You can find all the information about our triathlon-beginner project in Cologne here.

2. Register for the Carglass® Cologne Triathlon Weekend and donate to Giving Back

With your registration for the Carglass® Cologne Triathlon Weekend you can now also support the Giving Back charity from Carglass® with a donation of  € 3! WE GIVE THE WORLD SOMETHING GOOD BACK! That is the motto of the Carglass® Giving Back charity. If it is your motto too, then support Giving Back. Giving Back supports projects and programs for youth, health, education, sport and those in need, like for example, the Children's Hospital in Cologne. The support is made both directly through financial donations where help is needed, and indirectly through the funding of innovative and ongoing projects.

The Giving Back charity supports:

•    Projects that initiate long-term changes
•    Innovative help from people for people on national and international levels
•    Support for educational projects
•    Improving health
•    Promoting equal opportunity
•    Long-term use of resources

Further information about Giving Back can be found here.

3. Training camp not yet booked? Come to the Willpower.Races.Camp on Mallorca!

Now that winter is finally starting for real in Germany, the triathlete is longing for sun, warm temperatures, dry roads, and cycling in short-short. Cold feet, frozen fingers, snow, spinning and the roller are starting to lose their interest. High time to motivate yourself with a training camp and set the groundwork for the coming season!

The Willpower.Races.Camp at the Pollentia Club Resort can't be booked any more. But because of the continued requests, there will now be the Willpower.Races.-Camp 2 from April 6-20 (can be booked as a one- or two-week camp) at the Blue Bay Resort. Experienced triathlon coaches will tune your form under optimal training conditions. Whether you are a triathlon newcomer or veteran, you will be in good hands with our trainers! All information to the training camp can be found here.

4. Sport journalists' German championship at the Carglass® Cologne Triathlon Weekend again in 2014! Register now!

After the successful premiere of the German Sport Journalists' Championship we are happy to again carry out the German Championship of Sport Journalists on the CologneSmart during the Carglass® Cologne Triathlon Weekends again this year. Registration for sport journalists is now open! All the details can be found here.

5. These top athletes have already chosen the Willpower.Races. 2014

Again this year we can look forward to various top athletes taking part in our events. In addition to the already familiar faces who have been with us for several years or at numerous events, we would like to introduce some athletes who will be with us for the first time.

The Cologne multi-sport season will open on April 27 at the Forst Botanic Gardens in Cologne at the Bike & Run Cologne 2014. Among those taking part in the long distance (40 km cycling / 16.6 km running) will be duathon world champion Ulrike Schwalbe.  Ulrike has proven her duathon talent many times already. Her achievements include: 1st place, Powerman Germany (DM Duathlon long distance) 2010, 3rd place Powerman European Championships Holland 2009, 5th place ITU-Word championships Duathlon 2011. Now we are happy to welcome her to Cologne for the first time and look forward to her performance.

In the middle of the year, the Rheinauhafen Triathlon Köln 2014 will be held on June 1, in Cologne's new showplace. It remains to be seen whether Swen Sundberg can again defend his title in the Rheinauhafen 58.  Swen has already brought in many top international rankings. To just name a few, we remember his fourth places in the Ironman Florida 2004 and the Ironman Arizona 2006. In 2007 he finished 27th in the Ironman World Championships on Hawaii. That same year he was second in the Cologne Triathlon middle distance, and last year he won the Cologne226 half.  We look forward to greeting him again this year at our races.

We welcome our Cologne pro and title holder Johann Ackermann, who is also a successful personal trainer, author and travel agent, to the Olympic distance. This year he is leading the Willpower.Races. Camp on Mallorca and will also guide the Cologne Rookie Project, as he did last year. He is also planning a swimming workshop in Cologne on March 1. You can find more information about that on his homepage
http://www.johann-ackermann.de  In 2011, Johan Ackermann finished fourth in his long distance premiere at the long distance German championship at the Cologne 226 and was second in the European Aquathlon. He is now the fastest in Cologne at the long distance with his best time of 8:22 in the Ironman Arizona in December 2013 and is using the Olympic distance as preparation for the Green Hell Triathlon and the CARGLASS® Cologne Triathlon Weekend.

His rival for the top placings is Clemens Coenen, who has been with the Willpower.Races since 2008 and amongst other honours can claim the 2nd place in the Cologne226 half in 2010 as well as 2nd in the German Championships in the Cologne226 in 2011. After his amateur world championship title (AK 30) at the Ironman Hawaii 2008, where he finished 20th with a time of 8:52, he ran the race as a pro from 2009 to 2011 and in 2010 improved his time on Hawaii to 8:41, which gave him 24th place. In addition to his Cologne long distance, his best placings include 4th in the Strongman in Japan 2008 and fifth in the Ironman in Utah in 2010.  He too is using the Olympic distance to prepare for the long distance at the Green Hell Triathlon.

The Green Hell Triathlon will be held August 2 on and around the Nürburgring and invites all athletes to a special challenge. Those who don't yet know the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring can look forward to, amongst others, tackling ascents of up to 18% on the “Hohen Acht” and to setting a new speed record on the “Fuchsröhre”. For the first time, Cologne226 favorite Johann Ackermann will take on the “Green Hell” and will again meet Clemens Coenen in the fight for the title in the Green Hell Long.

There are still seven months to go before the Carglass® Cologne Triathlon Weekend
but the field of top athletes is growing. The weekend of September 5-7 is drawing international athletes Lenka Kralovà from the Czech Republic and Eddy Lamers of the Netherlands. Lenka Kralovà has run many middle distances in the Czech Republic and regularly brings in good results, like for example first place in the Half Ironman Doksyman and second in the Half Ironman Czechman 2013, with a personal best time of 4:36. After landing on the podium at the Pilman Czech National Championship in 2012, the Cologne Triathlon Weekend brought her to Germany last year. In her long distance premiere, she finished directly in second place in the Cologne226 and is top motivated to improve on her time of 9:30 this year. She will be going up against, amongst others, top German athlete Ulrike Schwalbe (who is also Duathlon World Champion).

Eddy Lamers is focusing on the Cologne226 this year, after his first time in the Cologne Triathlon last year, where he finished third in the Cologne226 half. Over the middle distance, he has won the 2nd place in the Dutch Championship in 2007, as well as 2nd in Bocholt 2010 and in 2010, he took the victory in the Hannover long distance home with him to Holland.

Also going for first place in the Cologne226 will be local star Johann Ackermann! With a current best time of 8.22, there are high hopes for Johann on his home course!

A new face from the Netherlands in the Cologne226 half will be Martijn Dekkers. Martijn is aiming for the podium in his Carglass® Cologne Triathlon Weekend premiere. He doesn't have a lot of experience on the middle distance, but in the short distance he has already accomplished a lot. On the national level,  he has won many podium places in the Dutch Elite Championships in the Olympic and sprint distances and in Cross Triathlon.

Train smart till it´s time to start!
